Medical Assistant – Full-Time
Urgent Care Center of Bloomfield is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to help with scheduled appointments and and walk-in patients on-site in Bloomfield CT. The successful candidate will report to the head of the medical operations of the Urgent Care and will support all medically related activities.
Hrs: Mon 9-5pm, Tues 9-5pm, Wed 9-5pm, Thurs 10:30-6pm, Fri 9-5pm Qualifications for the Medical Assistant: • Minimum experience: 1 Year in an Urgent Care or Internal Medicine Setting. • Understanding of HIPAA Privacy Rule. • Knowledge of EPIC in a clinical/ambulatory setting. • Bi-lingual - Spanish is a plus. • $15.50-$16.00 to start dependent on experience
Responsibilities for the Medical Assistant: • Perform Fundamental Procedures of Covid PCR and Rapid tests in a high volume and fast paced setting. • Disposing of biohazard materials. • Perform sterilization techniques • Wrapping items for autoclaving • Specimen Collection for COVID 19- Test for both Rapid and PCR • Prepare screening for TB tests • Prepare immunizations for patients • Perform flu testing • Perform lab tests as needed; urinalysis, pregnancy, strep cultures, STD’s, BV • Perform pre-employment and pre-op physicals • Diagnostic Testing – electrocardiography (EKG) • Obtain and record patient history and vital signs • Instructing patients in collection of clean-catch, midstream urine specimen • Update Physicians of all test results • Update EPIC with patient test results and information • Prepare and maintain examination and procedure rooms, keep clean • Check expiration date for emergency box • Maintain medication and immunization records and follow up test results • Provide medical records to authorized parties and patients. • Provide support at the Internal Medicine practice • Support all medically related activities including stocking of supply room, inventory logs and safekeeping and medical records management.
