Lacerations 

A laceration is a deep cut or tear in the skin. It can be caused by a sharp object, such as a knife or glass, or by blunt force trauma, such as a fall or punch. Lacerations can range from minor to severe and may require medical attention.

Symptoms:

▸ Bleeding
▸ Pain
▸ Swelling
▸ Bruising
▸ Tearing of the skin


When to Call a Doctor:

▸ If the laceration is deep or long - If the laceration is on the face, hands, feet, or genitals

▸ If the laceration is accompanied by numbness or tingling

▸ If the laceration is accompanied by fever or chills

▸ If the laceration does not stop bleeding after 10 minutes of direct pressure
