Strep Throat

Strep throat is a bacterial infection caused by Streptococcus bacteria. It is a common cause of sore throat in children and adolescents, but can affect people of any age. Symptoms of strep throat include sore throat, fever, swollen lymph nodes, and white patches on the tonsils. Treatment typically involves antibiotics.

▸ Difficulty swallowing
▸ Headache
▸ Vomiting
▸ Abdominal pain

When to Call a Doctor:

If you or your child experience any of the above symptoms, contact your doctor for an evaluation. If you have a fever over 101°F (38°C), difficulty swallowing, or severe pain in the throat, seek medical attention immediately.
